Invitation for 2nd Korean-American Missions Health Conference

Dr. David Stevens (Chairman of CMDA),

Main Speaker of 2008 KAMHC

It's been thrilling to see the increasing involvement of the Korean-American medical missionary personnel. A few years ago I had the privilege to speak in Korea at a national meeting for Christian doctors. During my time there, I heard story after story from various healthcare professionals about their missionary services in countries around the world. Last year at the Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC), which CMDA co-sponsors each fall in Louisville, Kentucky, I met with some of the same doctors whom I had the privilege of meeting in Korea. They shared their exciting plan of starting a medical school in Swaziland, and we talked of how CMDA could partner in this endeavor.

Even more exciting is my encounter with the Korean-American medical and dental students who have expressed a call in missions on the 230 campuses where CMDA works. God is up to something! I believe He is raising up a generation to finish the Great Commission in difficult-to-reach people groups; medical outreach is going to be the key. A year ago, CMDA started a program called "Your Call" to nurture and mentor students and residents who feel a call to missions. Nearly 700 have already identified themselves as stepping up to answer God's call.

It is crucial for us to draw apart for the Korean-American Missions Health Conference and ask, "What is our part in the Great Commission?" God's command to "heal the sick’tell them the kingdom of God is at hand," is as much to you and me as it was to His disciples. I'm looking forward to seeing you in Korean-American Missions Health Conference as we all listen for God's voice.
